Save Fur Pets (SFP) is a volunteer-based rescue organization dedicated to giving homeless cats a chance at a new life. Our cats come from various backgrounds, and while we may not always know their whole history, we ensure every cat receives proper medical care before being placed for adoption.
🏠 Owner Surrender Cats
These cats come from previous owners who can no longer care for them due to moving out of Canada, job changes, health issues, or other personal circumstances.
Please note that:
We do not accept cats with known major illnesses; however, there is always a possibility that some medical history may be undisclosed.
After arriving at SFP, every cat receives a veterinary examination and vaccinations.
If the cat is not yet spayed or neutered, we will arrange the procedure.
If no health issues are found during the medical check, the cat will be listed as “healthy and available for adoption.”
Any known health information will always be shared transparently with adopters.
🐾 Stray Cats
Some cats are found outdoors by compassionate members of the public. Only when it is confirmed that the cat has no owner, shows a stable temperament, and is in adoptable condition will SFP take the cat into our care.
For these cats:
These cats also undergo full health checks and vaccinations.
Their previous life history may be unknown, but we base their adoptability on their current health condition.
In most cases, stray cats are first taken to government shelters. SFP steps in selectively when needed—for example, in cases of abandoned kittens or clearly homeless cats in need of immediate help.
🏢 Government Shelter Transfers
A significant number of our cats come from local government shelters, especially during high intake seasons such as summer. Shelters often reach capacity and rely on local rescues like SFP to help relieve overcrowding.
What you need to know:
Many of these cats were found as strays or abandoned by previous owners who chose not to pay surrender fees.
Their past is often unknown, and we cannot guarantee their previous health history.
Upon transfer to SFP, all cats receive medical examinations, vaccinations, and spay/neuter procedures if needed before being made available for adoption.
❤️ Our Promise: We Cannot Change Their Past, But We Care Deeply About Their Future
Regardless of where each cat comes from, every single one receives veterinary care, vaccinations, and sterilization before adoption. While we may not always know their history, we are fully committed to providing them with a healthy start and a genuine opportunity for a better life.
Rather than focusing on their past, what truly matters is their chance at a new beginning.
We do everything within our capability to prepare these cats for their next chapter, and we are grateful for adopters who are willing to write that chapter with love and compassion.
By choosing to adopt, you are not just giving a cat a home—you are giving them hope, safety, and a future.
