“ADOPT, DON’T SHOP.”

At SaveFurPets, we love seeing our furry friends to find their new warm fuzzy homes.
Please read below to learn more about our adoption process.

Before applying, make sure to obtain consent from your family and roommates on the adoption.
Think carefully before adopting! Adoption means taking serious responsibility for the entire life of the animal.
Please respect the hard work of our staff. Don’t waste their time by applying just to see what will happen.

Thank you very much for your consideration and support.

ADOPTION PROCESS

1. To find out about adoptable animals at SaveFurPets (SFP), check our adoption page, follow us on the Red Book (ID: 9493162271), Instagram (@savefurpets), or message our customer service team on WeChat to join our WeChat adoption group (see QR code below).

2. Application. If you see a suitable animal and are ready to adopt, please fill out the application form thoroughly. The application links can be found here: https://www.savefurpets.com/applicationforms

3. Failed Applications. If your application fails repeatedly, consult our customer service team to see if there is any information on your profile that may prevent us from reaching you.

4. Interview. After filling out the form, please be patient and wait for us to reach out. Only candidates who meet the criteria will be notified. For cats and small animals, we will schedule a 15-30 minute phone interview with you typically one week after the application is received. For dogs, the interview length can be around 30-60 minutes.

5. Meet & Greet. Our animals stay in foster homes in different cities throughout the GTA and London areas as we do not want the animals to be kept in cages for display. For cats, we DO NOT allow visits to foster homes as some cats are afraid of strangers. For dogs, the candidate MUST schedule a time with the foster home to meet with the dog.

6. Contract & Fees. Our staff will send you the link to the adoption contract and you will pay the adoption fee for the process to be completed.

7. Welcome the animal home. After the process is complete, we will create a group chat connecting you and the foster. You may ask about the animal’s personality, eating habits, etc. We would recommend bringing the animal home ASAP or at an agreed-upon time with the foster/rescue staff. You may pick it up or ask the rescue staff to arrange a driver to deliver. The cost of the latter will be around $45, paid directly from the adopter to the driver.

8. Surrender. If our description of the animal does not match the animal itself, or if you really have difficulty continuing to take care of the animal, do not hesitate to contact our staff. We will provide advice or make arrangements for the animal to come back to our rescue if necessary.

ADOPTION FAQs

+ WHERE CAN I FIND THE ADOPTION UPDATES?

Check the latest adoption news on SFP’s WeChat posts, WeChat adoption groups, official website, and social media platforms such as the Red Book and Instagram.

+ HOW TO APPLY TO ADOPT A CAT FROM SFP?

Every cat from SFP has its own name. Click on the cat's intro and scroll down to find the link to the application form. Fill out the form and enter the name of the cat you wish to adopt.❣️ If you put the wrong phone number or WeChat ID on the application form, we may be unable to contact you and your application cannot be reviewed.

+ CAN I SEE THE CAT IN PERSON?

Our cats are all in foster homes located in different cities in Ontario. Due to the privacy of our fosters, we only offer visual adoption recently. We will provide you detailed information, pictures, and videos of the adoptable cats. You are only able to see the cat in person when you successfully adopt them.

+ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE APPLICATION TO BE REVIEWED AFTER SUBMISSION?

A cat can be very popular. It may take only 1 day to finalize the decision. Otherwise, it usually takes 2 to 3 days or more for us to start reaching out and make decisions from there.

+ WILL I DEFINITELY RECEIVE AN INTERVIEW NOTIFICATION?

If there is a large number of applicants, we will pick the most suitable ones. If you have not been interviewed, it does not mean you are not qualified. Only because there may be a family more suitable for this animal. Therefore, it is very important to fill out the application form thoroughly.

+ HOW CAN I INCREASE THE CHANCES OF BEING INTERVIEWED?

Share more about yourself! SFP can only make a judgment based on the information provided on the application form. If you can share more about why you want to adopt and how you will take good care of the cat, it will be better to help us to understand you.

+ WHAT IS THE PROCESS AFTER THE APPLICATION SUCCESSFULLY BEING REVIEWED? HOW DO I BRING THE CAT HOME?

When your adoption application is approved, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We will add you to a group chat with the foster parent. Then you can arrange a time with the foster parent to pick up the animal. We also offer animal delivery service, which costs between $40 to $50 depending on the distance.

+ WHAT KIND OF APPLICANTS MAY FAIL IN THE ADOPTION PROCESS?

Reasons may include but not limited to:

  • Incomplete application form

  • The candidate is below is age of 18 and did not provide consent from parents

  • Impolite and has a bad attitude

  • Not fully prepared to take care of a animal

  • Still unsure about the adoption

  • Changes their mind after approval, or

  • Previously returned an animal due to personal reasons

+ ARE THE ADOPTABLE ANIMALS GUARANTEED TO BE HEALTHY?

Every animal from SFP has received the standard medical care before being released to be adoptable, including vaccinations, physical exams, and sterilization. However, we cannot guarantee they do not have any hidden health problems, nor can we make sure they will remain healthy for the rest of their lives.

We do not have enough funds to give extensive health checks for every animal (i.e. blood work, x-rays, ultrasound, etc.). If you are really concerned about the animal, you can bring it to a vet for additional health checks after adoption.

We are not an animal breeder or pet store. Our mission is to provide basic medical care for the homeless animals, and find responsible care-takers for them after the veterinarian believes they are ready to be adopted.

+ CAN I RETURN THE ANIMAL IF IT’S NOT A GOOD FIT FOR ME AFTER ADOPTION?

Always! But with conditions.

Within two weeks of adoption, if the cat has a previously undiscovered health problem and you are unable to afford the treatment, we will take the cat back and refund the adoption fees.

However, if the reason for returning are personal reasons, such as finding it difficult to take care of, too much animal hair, or family members don’t like the animal and etc, the animal can be returned to SFP, the adoption fee will not be refunded.
